Textured PaintI use texture - created both with added materials and with marks and multiple layers of paint - to add complexity to the perception of colour and shape. Paintings like "Planetary Circus" began with arbitrary (random) marks, but evolved into forms after many layers of paint, almost like geological structures. The painting evolved over a two-year period into its present form. The process of evoking form from a non-representational field painting is also an exploration of how we "see".Vist the Textured Paint Gallery

Mixed MediaVarious materials - string, canvas, plaster, stryrofoam - have been added to the acrylic paint and media in all the paintings in this gallery. Some of these paintings are made with dry wall compound mixed with acrylic paint and medium. Layers of colour are scratched and sanded and then new layers are added on top. There are many layers to get these effects!Vist the Mixed Media Texture Gallery
